The Premier Soccer League’s most successful coach Pitso Mosimane has shocked the ‘Ka Bo Yellow’ nation by resigning as the head coach of the treble champions, Mamelodi Sundowns. Mosimane is set for a new challenge as he is about to link up with the African club of the century Al Ahly.
However, the newly crowned SAFJA Men’s Footballer of the Season winner Themba Zwane has spoken fondly about Mosimane, who is departing at Chloorkop for a new coaching job in Egypt.
Zwane, who is famously known as ‘Mshishi’ among Sundowns fans, has been a phenomenal and exceptional player for ‘Masandawana’ under the mentorship of Mosimane. The 31-year-old midfielder was brought back on loan from the now-defunct Mpumalanga Black Aces to Sundowns by Pitso in 2014 and has won numerous titles which includes four league titles, two Telkom Knockout titles, Nedbank Cups, CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup under the guidance and brilliant coaching of Mosimane.
“Pitso has played a big role to the team because he always motivates guys, he always wants guys who work hard,” said Zwane.
“He will give you the mentality that he has, the mentality of always being on your toes and never taking things for granted. You play one game, forget about it and focus on the next one.
“He has done well for himself, as well as for the team and for the country and he has played a big role to my career to be honest because he was always on my case.. ‘Mshishi you need create goals, Mshishi you need to score more, Mshishi you need make the team to play, you need to take care of yourself and avoid injuries’, he was always on my case, and I appreciate working with him,” he concluded.
Zwane will commence the new season without Mosimane after six years of working together and bringing a parade of trophies and success to Mamelodi Sundowns.
