Cape Town City boss John Comitis has expressed his excitement about the resumption of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) domestic season, following its suspension on the 16th of March 2020, when the novel Covid-19 pandemic halted.

 

After the Board of Governors meeting (BoG) held on Monday (27/07/2020), PSL Chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza announced the readiness of the PSL and GladAfrica Championship to resume their suspended fixtures on the 8th of August 2020, starting with the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

“We look forward to the return and our team is very ready, Cape Town City, we have been prepared for this and it’s a long-time coming and we are very grateful,” he concluded.


 

 

"Today we unanimously agreed that we must resume the games on the 8th of August 2020, on this date, it is definite go for all of us in the PSL and the GladAfrica Championship, at this point in time its all systems go," Khoza addressed the media.

 

The announcement by the PSL chairman was good news to the South African fraternity. Therefore, Comitis could not resist expressing how grateful he is that the 2019/20 domestic season will be completed and believes it is a fair thing to do considering the decision of promotion and relegation. He also revealed that his side, Cape Town City, is ready and prepared to return to the playing field.

 

"I think we are all very excited to hear that we will be returning to the playing field and I think under the circumstances with many uncertainties in the whole world at the moment to know that you have a date to resume football," Comitis told the media.

 

"To resume the current season to its completion I think, obviously on a sporting base, the fair way to complete the decision on promotion and relegation and I'm glad that the PSL and the BoG and the chairman made this decision."
